April 2014

Spring is here, meaning we are having lovely warm days interspersed with torrential rain storms, Easter was celebrated in Canada, work is crazy busy for Bryon and our baby is growing remarkably large :)

We spent a lovely weekend camping along the Sandy River with friends.

Nothing's better than a s'more when you're camping!

Cold morning by the fire.

Attempting to fish.  I wish I had an after picture because he fell in mid-river!

Kai and the other kiddos earned their "Junior Ranger" badges.

Boys will be boys.

Kai was quite sick the day before Easter but thankfully recovered in time for Easter Sunday celebrations.

"Huh, where is it?"  So oblivious sometimes :)

Aha!

Each kid had 12 eggs, hidden all over the property, that they had to find.

Poor Great Grandma was in the hospital again, after breaking her hip.  So, we brought her Easter dinner just like we brought her Christmas dinner only a few months ago.

My cousin Lindsay was able to come up with us for the weekend since she's working in Seattle as a travel nurse for a few months.
Kai was a great little helper to Great Grandma.

Pretty sure Kai wishes he was their fourth child :)

Kai thought it would be really funny to play a prank on Bryon by making and serving him a "condiment sandwich", containing mustard, mayo, ketchup and relish.  If you know Bryon at all, he despises most condiments.  Sadly, he could smell Kai's trick before taking a bite :)

Kai modeling his new shirt from Gramma along with post-nap rosy cheeks and blankie.

Bryon helped some friends out with their accounting, and in return they gave us a restaurant gift card and free babysitting so we could go on a date.  Very fun!
All the kiddos watching their daddies' soccer game.

Beautiful day on Mt. Hood
And a not so beautiful day...oh and Bryon forgot Kai's coat, so he rigged up this nice looking fleece blanket contraption :)

Kai's first session of swim lessons has been going great!
Loving the sun!

March 2014 (and a little bit of February too)

Busy busy days!  Trips, adventures, school etc.  It's been a busy month.  Time is flying by and I can't believe it's Spring already.  We're still soaking up a bit of winter here though, with frequent trips to various mountains.

February ended and March began with the annual boys' ski trip to Pemberton.  Sunny skies, not great snow and plenty of fun.

Meanwhile, Kai and I hung out with my family...meaning they took care of Kai a lot while I napped and ate a lot :)  Oh the joys of being 27 weeks pregnant and counting.

It was good to see Great Grandma feeling so much better.  We got to visit her at her condo and all of the other elderly people loved that Kai was wearing his tie :)

Four generations.

We came back from our holiday just in time for Kai's first preschool field trip - to our local Fire Station.

Stop, Drop and Roll!

Getting ready for some skiing at Ski Bowl.

And some night skiing, while I hung out in an Adirondack chair by the fire.

Getting ready for Kai's first school play.  The kids got to choose their own characters and Kai wanted to be a "Triceratops-Stegosaurus".  Fortunately I was able to borrow a Stegosaurus costume from a friend as well as a Pentaceratops mask which in Kai's opinion was even better than a Triceratops.

He did however want there to have fire shooting from his horns, so we made these flames and he was ready to go.

Waiting backstage.

The kids all did so well and made us proud!

First picnic of the year.

It was so warm that Kai and his friend rode shirtless around the park all morning :)

Checking out snails and soaking up some sun with neighborhood friends.
Such a brave and happy boy at the dentist!

He even got to listen to some music on a discman...haha!  Our dentist is obviously not too up-to-date.

He even had to have a couple of really deep grooves in his teeth filled, but didn't even flinch.  Maybe it was the awesome music on the discman.

Hanging out with my two boys :)

Kai likes to make us breakfast...usually cereal, fruit and yogurt.  I'm hoping this lasts for several years to come.
Still his favourite blanket, although it's wearing a bit thin on the edges.  He claims he's going to pass it on to "Bones" when he arrives, but we'll have to wait and see about that.
Over Spring Break we were able to take a quick 3 day trip to Bend and meet up with friends from Sandpoint.  Here we are at Bachelor, all 7 pairs of skis ready to go.

The kiddos watching Frozen.  Kai was mesmerized.

When choosing a vacation rental, our main objective was to find one with a hot tub.  So worth it.

We met up with some of our good friends who live in Bend...friends who we've prayed with and hoped with for the gift of new life and here we are, both pregnant and due only a week apart!

80's night to celebrate a friend's birthday.

I don't even know what to say about this.

The last weekend in the month, our friends Kody and Renee came up from Colorado for a visit.  It was so fun to have them here!

A viewpoint on our hike in the Gorge.

Kai really wanted to match Kody, so he changed his shirt for the day :)
