Settling In

On July 7th Kai and I met Bryon in Seattle and traveled down to Portland together.  Since arriving here things have been pretty non-stop...with adjusting to a new job, settling into a new home, meeting new friends and neighbours, having both sets of grandparents visit, and exploring all kinds of new things/places here, we've been busy!  I don't have a lot of pictures, but here are a few from our first couple of weeks here.

We arrived late at night to find gifts for all three of us along with a lovely welcome note from our friends and now neighbours!  It's been so great to move somewhere where we know people.

The weather was amazing our first day here, so we immediately set up the pool.

Kai, Lily and Ike meet for the first time!  Their dad was Bryon's roommate at TWU, and Kai and Lily were born only 2 days apart.  Now they're our neighbours and Bryon and Joe are co-workers.  Crazy how life works out!

The kids were all great splashers/belly-floppers :)

First day of work picture.  Bryon's going to love me for posting this one :)

We definitely miss having Lake Pend Oreille just a couple of minutes from our house, so we've been searching out a few swimming holes near our house here.

...and splash parks!

Bryon's mom and dad came to visit and help out with babysitting.

We got to visit the coast while they were here.  It's lovely to be closer to the ocean.

I loved watching Kai explore the ocean and beach.  He's been to the ocean before, but not since he was just 8 months old.

He found the waves a bit overwhelming, but loved a little creek flowing out into the ocean.

Sobbing after being chased and caught by a rogue wave :)

My parents were here visiting this past week, and  we made yummy homemade ice-cream while they were here.

Randomly, we saw this place near our house here.  We found out there are only 3 of these shops, one being in Sandpoint and one here!  Small world.

An evening bike ride down our street...

...to pick berries, most of which didn't even make it into the bucket as you can see!
We're definitely missing Sandpoint, the lovely lake, small town life and our wonderful friends.  But, Portland is proving to be pretty great too.
