May 2014

May has come and gone, and what a full month it's been!  But, still no baby.  Just waiting and waiting and growing bigger and bigger.  :)
However, in other big news....we're moving!  We've been mulling over the decision for a long time, but it's more recently become official that we'll be moving to Greeley, CO (Bryon's hometown) at the beginning of July and we will be buying a business there.  So, LOTS going on in the next few weeks.  Currently it feels a bit overwhelming, but we have lots of help and we will survive :)  We're excited to live closer to Bryon's family, but at the same time sad to be farther from my family, to leave friends here, and to leave the good ol' Pacific Northwest.  Bittersweet.

Anyways, let's not get ahead of ourselves...back to May.  Here's a little look at what we've been up to!

Preschool Field Trip to Plumper Pumpkin Patch.

Working hard to pump ducks down the slide.

The kids all got to plant pumpkin seeds which they'll go back and harvest with the 4 year old preschool class in the fall.  Sadly, Kai won't be there to harvest his pumpkin :(

End of year preschool fun run.  All of the kids were encouraged to make/wear capes.

Kai's teacher Teresa.  We've so appreciated her input into Kai's life and our lives this year.

Even Bryon got in on the action.

And Grandpa!  Kai ran a total of 23 laps!

Hanging out with the two teachers.  We'll miss having teacher Laurie next year.

Lots of fun while Grandpa and Grandma were here.

A visit to the Rose Gardens, but unfortunately there were hardly any roses out yet.

View of Portland from the Pittock Mansion.

Happy Mother's Day!

A perfect way to spend our Mother's Day weekend.

We also got to spend a day in Hood River.

As part of their yearly "Mother's Week" tradition, Bryon and Kai made me this card.  "Mom, Dessert?"  Of course my answer was, "Yes!".  However, I'm still a bit baffled by the picture.  Apparently I've already had our baby, and then maybe passed out from eating too much cake? :)

Baby shower with Lifegroup friends - Thai food and my favourite Portland ice-cream with great girlfriends.  Doesn't get much better!

Another lovely baby shower with neighborhood friends.  So grateful for these girls and the input they've had into my life over the past two years.

Goldfish level of swim lessons completed.  Way to go little guy!

When the weather on the mountain wasn't so great, Bryon and Kai made a detour and had a day of biking instead.

Mt. Hood

Picnic date with Bryon overlooking the Gorge.  My parents had Kai up at their place for a week which meant we had a whole week of date nights.  And, this is the only picture I have from the whole week!

Fun with friends at our favourite downtown fountains.

Such a fun birthday party for a friend of Kai's.

On top of the clown, the zipline was a big hit!  I totally want one for our backyard now.

Kai is always loving on the babies at Lifegroup.  Getting ready to be a big brother.

Mischievous face-painting with a neighbor friend.  Thankfully the whiskers washed off easily :)

We'll miss biking to and from school with friends.

Gotta keep all of our bikes clean :)

This is a few months old, but I just found it.  Apparently this is what Kai thought I looked like at 6 months pregnant.  Nice.  And, likely accurate.
A favourite family activity - frisbee golf.

Bryon's bike route to work.

Another birthday party.

What's better (or more dangerous) than a pinata at a kids' party?
A lovely Memorial Day in Hood River.

Resting the 39 week baby bump.

Our server thought it was really funny that the first thing Kai wanted to eat was his lettuce leaf garnish :)  Gotta be thankful for a boy who loves his greens!
May 27th, last day of preschool.  We'll miss our sweet school here in Portland, but are so glad we have a great preschool lined up in Greeley and one more year of preschool before kindergarten at least!
Making jam with some of our freshly picked strawberries.
Summer sword fight fun with neighbor friends.

Birthday party fun at a nearby park.

And, that's a wrap on May!  Looking forward to lots more memories being made in June.

Wow! You live in such a beautiful place! I hope we can compete when you get here! :) We are so very excited for new (old) friends to be close by. Also excited to hear about baby boy's arrival!
