Week Thirty-Four

This week we arrived back home again after our vacation in Canada.  My mom and dad drove us home on Wednesday and Kai was a happy traveler for 99% of the 10 hour car ride!  And, daddy was very happy to see Kaibo (and me too!) when we got home.  And, being the awesome husband and dad that he is, he'd kept the house remarkably clean and done a bunch of projects around the house like hanging pictures, hemming and hanging curtains(!), and painting Kai's porch swing.  The house looked great when we arrived and it felt really good to be home.  

Thursday and Friday were spent visiting with my Great Uncle Merv and Great Auntie Lillian who were visiting Sandpoint, and doing lots of projects around our house with the help of my parents.  We got our veggie garden planted, our porch swings hung, and various things fixed and mended.

Then on Saturday, my dad and Bryon did the CHAFE 150 bike ride here in Sandpoint.  It's a 150 mile road bike ride to raise money for the Panhandle Alliance for Education, and Bryon and my dad road the half ride which is 82 miles long!

My parents left on Sunday and our little family of three spent the next couple of days enjoying each other and beautiful Sandpoint in the summer.

Week Thirty-Three

Week thirty-three of our little guy's life found us still in Canada and enjoying lots of time with family and friends.  On Friday, my mom, dad, Kai and I drove to Campbell River on Vancouver Island to stay with my grandma and attend Sarah and Isaac's beautiful wedding at Strathcona Lodge.  Kai loved his first ferry ride, and even more he enjoyed seeing great-grandma again and meeting many other new friends.  This week more than confirmed the fact that he is an extrovert and people lover.  He LOVED being held by all the new people, and everyone commented on how bright-eyed, happy and alert he is.  He definitely brought lots of joy and laughter wherever he went.

Back in Aldergrove to visit more friends.  This is my parents' neighbour, Wil, and Kai absolutely loved both her and her cat.  He couldn't stop laughing whenever the cat came near, but after Kai gave the cat's ear a good yank it refused to come anywhere near him again!

Week Thirty-Two

We're finally back from our long vacation and ready to post about all of our many adventures! 

On the evening of Thursday, May 27th we made the first leg of our journey and landed in Ellensburg, WA for the night.  After those 4 hours in the car with Kai I thought I wasn't going to survive all of the driving that we had to do in the coming days (unless I purchased a high quality pair of ear plugs that is).  It's obvious that our little bundle of constant movement, energy and curiosity does not really like to be strapped into a carseat for hours on end, and prefers to look at the many things going by outside the window rather than sleep.  However, the next day he made a turn for the better and was a trooper for the rest of our trip and the MANY hours in the car. 

On Friday we continued our journey, stopping for a quick shopping trip at Ikea and continuing on to North Seattle where Bryon wrote the first of four CPA exams he has to take this year.  In the meantime, Kai and I had fun meeting up with a few friends in Seattle.

Then, on Saturday we met my parents in Seattle and Bryon went south to ski with Joe in Oregon while Kai and I went north to visit my family and friends.
