When it came to planning Kai's 1st birthday, I really wanted it to be special and I really wanted it to be a celebration Kai could thoroughly enjoy. It was afterall, his day. So, although there were so many people I wanted to invite, I limited the invite list to Kai's playmates (and their parents of course, who have become dear friends of ours as well.) Not everyone was able to come, but we still had a great time with a house full of friends. Also, Gramma and Papa Budensiek came out to join us for the weekend which made the party extra special.
I had to include this picture since so much effort went into making these pom-poms! Bryon's mom and I spent quite a few minutes/hours making these, but I love how they turned out.
12 Months of Kai
I decided to do an ocean/fish theme since Kai's name means "ocean" and since the first word that we absolutely knew Kai understood was "fish".
Lots of fish, and other green and blue food/drink.
Kai wasn't too sure about the "Happy Birthday" song, but at least he didn't make his wrinkly nose face. :)
Yummm, carrot cake! It took a while, but once he finally got it in his mouth, he couldn't stop saying "yum, yum".
Kai was blessed with lots of great gifts.
A rousing game of "pin the tail on the whale".
Showing off his standing skills.
