These Days

These days...

- it keeps snowing, then raining, repeat.  Yuck!

- we are having lots of playdates to keep us from going stir-crazy.

- Bryon is working really hard, and fitting in a few hours of skiing here and there (somedays he gets up at 5 just so that he can go do a quick run before going to work.  Obviously he really loves skiing!)

- Kai is coming to have more and more of a mind of his own.  I mean, this has always been apparent in him, but these days it's even more so.  "No" is now one of his most frequently used words.  And, if you ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, he lies down and pretends to be sleeping.

- I am loving being a mom despite this.

- when Kai gets in trouble, he immediately flashes a big smile, says "hi!" and gives us a big hug.  How do they know how to pull on our heartstrings so early?!

Other than that, here are a few pictures to show what we've been up to these days.

Kai's first real haircut was not a big hit!

Sitting on daddy's lap helped out a bit.  Everytime a piece of hair would fall to the floor, he would say "OH NO! OH NO!"

I was really sad to see his little curls disappear.  He looks like such a little boy now.

We took him skiing after his haircut to make up for the previous torture!

Even though Kai is still pretty young, I decided to get him a toilet so that he could get used to the idea.  He quite likes it, and although he's nowhere near being potty trained, I think we've made a positive start.

Kai found this scarf of mine, and decided that it would make a suitably fuzzy replacement for "Hee Hee".  He proceeded to snuggle with it all afternoon.

I bought this slide on Craigslist, and it's been the big playtime hit at our house for a few weeks now.  However, it has caused several bruises and goose eggs, but what's new?!  The first night we had it, Kai pushed it over to the stairs and then slid down - with him, there's always some way to make things a little bit more exciting!

Trains, trucks and cars are slowly becoming equally as popular as balls.  I'm glad to see him diversifying!

Kai loves dressing up in our clothes.

We definitely laughed out loud at several things in this update! :) Love the pretending to sleep when he doesn't want to do anything! Also, the haircut story/pictures were all too familiar. :) Nathan had to sit and hold Jane last time too, with similar comments from her. Kai looks like such a fun boy! I can't wait to meet him!
