10-20-2011

Last year on Kai's 1st birthday I documented a day in the life of Kai, so I thought I'd do the same this year on his 2nd birthday.

6:45 - Kai woke up way earlier than usual, with excited birthday shouts and leaps around his crib.  Obviously all of our birthday talk had gotten through to him!

As usual, he had to throw all of his animals and blankets out of his crib before getting out himself.

7:00 - Since Kai was up so early, Bryon took him out to breakfast before going to work.

Kai loved his birthday breakfast with daddy and came home to tell me that he had eggs and french fries for breakfast!  I guess we need to teach him the word "hashbrowns" :)

9:30 - I took Kai to the park, and in true 2 year old fashion he insisted on carrying his own bag :)

12:00 - Daddy came home and joined us for a lunch of curry chicken sandwiches and baby carrots from our garden.

1:30 - We read a few stories and then Kai went down for a nap and proceeded to bounce around his crib, happily singing songs and playing with his animals for TWO HOURS!!  Did I mention he was excited that it was his birthday??  Finally I admitted to myself that he wasn't going to take a nice long nap like usual and let him get up.
3:30 - We walked down the street to the gas station and rented "Cars" as a special treat for Kai.  It was his second time to watch it and he was enthralled just like the first time.

5:00 - Kai helped me make his favourite kind of pizza - BBQ chicken.

6:30 - We went swimming at Pend Oreille Shores resort where we were the only ones in the pool! (Earlier this year Bryon's boss gave us a one-week timeshare here, which means we also get to use their facilities all year long!)

8:00 - Kai got completely freaked out by the candle on his cupcake :(

8:15 - Gifts!  We got Kai a train table at a garage sale and Bryon painted one side of the top (it's flippable) with chalkboard paint.  Then, my parents got him a little train set to use on the table.

8:45 - A late bedtime for our tired little guy after a very busy and sleepless day.  After a couple of stories he was ready to be tucked in.

"Night night.  Sleep tight.  Love you."

Sounds like a fun day. What a lucky boy to have such loving parents that think of fun ways to celebrate! Happy Birthday Kai-bo!
Looking forward to seeing you all in December :)
