A week after Kai's actual birthday we had a little party here at our house with a few friends. I've always been a little sad that Kai's birthday falls during a time of year when an outdoor birthday party is usually not an option. So, when it wasn't raining or snowing this year, I jumped at the chance to be outside. Bryon and Kai raked a big pile of leaves in our backyard, we bought a pinata, pulled out Bryon's childhood tractor and other ride-on toys, and tossed some bubbles and sidewalk chalk outside for good measure. And, of course we had all kinds of fall colored/flavored snacks like beet and sweet potato chips, pumpkin cupcakes and grapes.
It was a fun and lovely afternoon and after getting over his initial shyness at having so many people at our house, Kai enjoyed himself immensely and is still talking about it with phrases like, "pindana break fruit snacks inside!" and "cupcake candle hot" :)
