Settling In...

I'm sitting here with a cup of tea in my hand, one child at preschool, the other blissfully napping and our house is semi clean, unpacked and put together.  Dare I say we're settling in?  Ahhh, finally!
Looking back on July and August is like looking into a big blur of chaos.  I can hardly remember a moment when I thought, "Hmm, what should we do today?"  It was just go, go, go.  I think we're finally coming out of that and getting ourselves into a nice solid routine which feels so good to my overly type A personality :)
Here's a peek at August, minus the best week of August (AKA our family camping trip) which I'll post about separately.

A Sunday afternoon spent at nearby Windsor Lake.

It doesn't quite live up to Portland standards,
but we do have a donut shop within walking distance.
Kai, as usual, picked the biggest/brightest donut.

The first week of August we once again packed up all of our stuff, moved all of our furniture out and went up to Bryon's parents' condo in Estes Park so that our floors could be refinished.
Kai was a great babysitter and played "boat" with Anders on the changing pad while we got everything ready to go.

Growing up too fast!  And, the haircut!  Did I mention Kai got lice in July, which resulted in me taking the clippers to his long hair?  Yep, that happened.

Anders picture overload.  Sorry, can't decide which photo is my favorite and also can't get enough of this cute face.

A lovely evening walk in Estes.

Followed by hot chocolate and cookies while we waited for the stars to come out.
Playing dino-nest.

Bryon sent us progress pictures of the floors each day.

Hiking to Alberta Falls.

Seriously, this face. Love it.
Playing in Estes Lake.

Fun spending time with Gramma.

Picture for Kai's preschool coat hook.  What happened to my little boy?

Lots of smiles for daddy and Kai.

Open house day at Kai's new preschool.
We love that they have a great outdoor play area.

While we were in Estes, Bryon and his dad hiked up to this snow field and then Bryon skied down.
Always finding a way to ski, even in the summer!

A Sunday afternoon spent in Boulder, hiking and picnicking up by the Flat Irons.

Soccer season has started.
Kai's playing on a Mighty Mites team for 4 & 5 year olds, with our friend Nathan as the coach and Bryon as an assistant coach. With two practices and a game each week, we moms and younger kiddos have lots of time to hang out together.

Hey Christy,
Just looked up your blog today and was thrilled to see so many recent photos from your Colorado adventures. It's fun to see where you are living now and to see how much the boys have changed and grown in just a few months! You are missed in the RCP!
