Budenecamping 2014

Bryon had a week off in August so he planned an epic Colorado tour for our family, complete with a lovely spreadsheet organizing all of the many details of the trip, from itinerary to menu :)  Doesn't get much better than that!  We had such a fun trip (made even better by the fact that Anders slept through the night for the first time on this trip and hasn't stopped since!) and are all excited for our next chance to go camping.

Just trying on some cold-weather accessories in preparation for
camping in the mountains.  I think he looks like Kai when all of his hair is hidden like this :)

On the first night we camped at Michigan Lake and woke to this beautiful view.

Staying cozy.

Lots of cuddling by the fire on the cold mountain mornings.

We carried on from Michigan Lake to Steamboat Springs, where we picnicked and enjoyed the "Hippy Hot Springs" (where the warm water flows out from the developed hot spring pools, under the road and into the river pictured here).

This was one of Kai's favorite spots on our trip.  Pure joy!

Taking a break on our drive from Steamboat Springs to Turquoise Lake.

Turquoise Lake was incredibly beautiful.  It sounds cheesy, I could feel my soul being refreshed just sitting by this lake.

Happy Camper!

Bryon and Kai did lots of mountain biking on these great trails.

I bribed these two to go swimming in the frigid water.

And then Kai convinced me to go in too :)

Naptime in the car as we headed from Turquoise Lake to Crested Butte/Lake Irwin.

What's a camping trip without Hobo Dinners?

For the last two days of our adventure, we stayed in a vacation rental in Buena Vista.  Although the vacation rental was awesome, in hindsight I think we would have just camped the whole time.  It was really nice to have a shower though :)

Buena Vista was a really cool little town with lots of nearby outdoor activities and great parks to enjoy.

Such a fun vacation rental, complete with an indoor climbing wall!

Day trip to Salida.

One last bike ride before heading home.

Thanks Bryon for planning such a fun family vacation!
