Snow is piled in our yard, so I figured it's time to (finally) finish posting pictures from our summer :)
We came home from Canada in time to have a few more adventures before Kai started school.
Here's what we were up to!
| Getting ready for his first triathalon! |
| Kai was in the youngest age group - 3, 4 and 5 year olds. |
| Transition! |
| He thought the beginning of the cones was the finish line and stopped and strolled across the real finish line :) |
| Beach day with friends. Anders cracks me up in this picture :) |
| School supply shopping date. |
| Labeling all 72 crayons as required by the school :) |
| He always wants to be like big brother. |
| A fun play date to make the most of our last days before school started. |
| All summer we talked about going to the dino water park near our house, and we finally made it on the last day it was open for the summer. It did not disappoint! |
| Exploring his classroom at back-to-school night. |
| A fun trip to Fossil Ridge park with friends for one last hurrah the day before school started. |
| Helping me make (aka sample) brownies for his back to school dinner. |
His requested menu... Appetizer: Peaches Salad: Asian cabbage salad Main Course: Mac 'n Cheese Dessert: Brownies and ice-cream :) |
| And here he is, our kindergartener, all uniformed up and ready to go! |
| I had a hard time choosing a favorite picture as usual, so... |
| Kai has the sweetest class and the best teacher and student teacher. |
| They survived their first day! |
| Kai's so thrilled to have some of his good buddies at school with him, even if they're not in his grade. |
| Helping daddy get ready for his first XTerra triathalon. |
| What a great place to hang out, play and relax while daddy was working hard! |
| Feeling pretty tired after the long mountain bike |
| But, he made it and he did so well! |
| Post-race fun. |
| First soccer practice of the season. |
| Kai's been dreaming and planning for dino-land for a quite a while and he finally chose a place to build it. So, here we are, complete with forest, volcano, lake and nest. |
| Then, along comes little brother. I don't think Kai was quite as thrilled as Anders was at this development. |
| A fun day spent at Curt Gowdy State Park. |
| As evidenced by our footwear and "backpack" we didn't come ready to hike...we were just planning on spending the day at the reservoir. But, the idea of a waterfall lured us in and decided we could manage a 2 mile (one way) hike without proper shoes or baby backpack :) |
| It was worth it! The water looks muddy but it was actually crystal clear, with brown pebbles beneath. |
| Such a fun place for the boys to play! |
| Rock-sliding. |
| This little guy insisted on walking a good portion of the 2 mile way back on his own. |
| And then fell fast asleep :) |
| We ended the day with a BBQ down by the reservoir. |
| Another fun adventure up the Thompson Canyon. |
| This boy...I love watching him explore. |
| Like I said, he wants to be doing whatever big brother is doing. |
